Is my Volkswagen New Vehicle Warranty transferable?


Yes, subsequent registered owners may obtain the benefit of any unexpired portion of this New Vehicle Warranty by completing the Ownership Amendment Form and submitting it to Volkswagen Group Australia, following the purchase of the vehicle. Alternatively, customers can contact Volkswagen Group Australia’s toll-free Contact Centre on 1800 607 822 between 8:00am and 6:00pm Monday to Friday (AEST) or email hello@myvw.com.au. Subsequent registered owners will be subject to all of the provisions, limitations, and exclusions of this New Vehicle Warranty.

How long is the warranty period for Volkswagen genuine parts and accessories fitted to my vehicle?


The warranty for Volkswagen Genuine Parts and Accessories fitted:

  • On your new Volkswagen vehicle at the time it is first delivered to you is 5 years/unlimited kilometres from the date of delivery; or
  • Purchased after your new Volkswagen vehicle has been delivered to you is 2 years unlimited kilometres from the date of purchase. 

The warranty for Volkswagen Genuine Parts and Accessories fitted:

Volkswagen Genuine Parts and Accessories purchased or fitted as part of a retail repair from an authorised VW dealer are covered by a 2 Year Parts Warranty.

Our additional benefits include flat batteries, emergency fuel, flat tyres, lost or locked keys, bogged vehicle, taxi and legal or medical advice. I'm thinking of purchasing a used Volkswagen privately. What warranty is included?


If you purchased your Volkswagen privately, the vehicle will come with the remainder of its Volkswagen New Vehicle Warranty from when it was purchased new. This is transferable at no cost by completing the Ownership Amendment Form.

Just like the experience of buying new, a minimum of 1-year warranty is included on every Volkswagen in the Certified Pre-Owned Program. So, you can be rest assured knowing that if the unexpected happens you’ll be covered. For more information, please visit Certified Pre-Owned. The Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty commences either at:

  • The conclusion of the New Vehicle Warranty (if the Certified Pre-Owned vehicle was still within the New Vehicle Warranty at the time of purchase), or
  • At the time of the Certified Pre-Owned vehicle purchase (if the Certified Pre-Owned vehicles’ New Vehicle Warranty had already expired).

If your Certified Pre-Owned Volkswagen has any remaining Volkswagen New Vehicle Warranty from its time of purchase, the Certified Pre-Owned Warranty will add an extra year of coverage on top of the New Vehicle Warranty cover.

If I have a warranty issue I need to fix, what should I do?


When a warranty repair is necessary under your New Vehicle Warranty, please contact your local authorised Volkswagen dealer as soon as possible. All authorised Volkswagen dealers are able to carry out warranty repairs on all Volkswagen vehicles. All warranty defects must be reported to an authorised Volkswagen dealer as soon as possible and before the New Vehicle Warranty has expired.

When a warranty repair is necessary under your New Vehicle Warranty, please contact your local authorised Volkswagen dealer as soon as possible. All authorised Volkswagen dealers are able to carry out warranty repairs on all Volkswagen vehicles.
